First week of #MarathoninaYear complete!

For you guys that don't know, I'm dedicating a whole year to London Marathon 2019 (Based upon the fact that my time in Valencia marathon will gain me GFA entry, if not it'll be Bungay Marathon!) I'm planning on documenting every training session and what I eat via Facebook and Instagram + Strava!

The first week has been great! 41 miles in the bag with a five mile race, kilometre reps and a 14 mile long run with a few easy run here and there! Check out my training here... https://www.strava.com/athletes/2900678

In terms of my diet, it hasn't been the best this week as we came back from Scotland on Tuesday and haven't found a good rhythm of when and what to eat yet. Start a fresh tomorrow!

After speaking to a few people I've decided to take a different approach to my training, I'll still be running my long runs easy and running the majority of the mileage easy but with extra speed sessions in the week.

An example week could look like:

Monday: Rest or easy run

Tuesday: Short speed reps

Wednesday: Double day easy run.

Thursday: 1 mile at 10k pace, 4 x 400m at 5k pace then 1 mile AHAYCG (I'll let you work that out ;)

Friday: Rest or easy run

Saturday: VO2 Max session: So last week for me it was 8 x 1km with 90 seconds recovery.

Sunday: Long run

I've been neglecting adding more speed and strength work into my running with the fear of getting injured, but I'm now more focused on adding the stretching and gym work into my training which should keep the injuries at bay.

8 days down, 357 to go and I'm loving every second!
